Dale and Marilyn Howard’s philanthropic support has enhanced many programs and organizations in northeast Iowa -- including Panther men’s basketball.

Dale has served in an advisory role to UNI head men’s basketball coach Ben Jacobson and recommended the creation of the Men’s Basketball Inner Circle. Dave and Marilyn also support the McLeod Center Team Rooms renovation project.
Said Jacobson, “The Howard’s priorities of family, hard work and doing things right have had a tremendous impact on the University of Northern Iowa. Their willingness to share these priorities in order to make a difference in the lives of so many young people is just plain awesome!”
In addition, Dale has been a long-time supporter of the UNI Courtesy Car program. He is the owner and president of Dale Howard Inc., an automobile dealership in Iowa Falls. It was Iowa’s first dealership that featured brands from all three major auto manufacturers in one location.
To recognize their generosity to the university, the Howards were presented with the Purple and Gold Award on November 8 at the Distinguished Awards Celebration. This is the most prestigious award for lifetime giving that the University of Northern Iowa Foundation bestows on behalf of the university. This award recognizes the extraordinary, long-time support of individuals who have had a significant and inspiring impact on UNI.
Dale and Marilyn are engaged in philanthropic efforts at various educational institutions in Iowa. These include facility construction and improvements at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls and the University of Iowa.
Added Jacobson, "On behalf of the university, I want to thank Dale and Marilyn for their leadership, kindness and generosity. Dale and Marilyn have set an amazing example for all of us. We are very fortunate to know and call Dale, Marilyn and the Howard family friends of the Panthers."
